We have just finished the last of the dancing concerts for the year.
My daughter had two concerts to perform in over one weekend and I had one concert to perform in the next.
It was a job and a half to check that we had all of the correct shoes, costumes, headpieces, stocking and props ready to go.
I have learnt over the years that this is easier if I put a couple of processes in place during the year.
As costumes are completed, all of the associated bits are placed in a ziplock bag and attached to the costume itself. This has prevented many a disaster prior to competitions and performances.
One such disaster occurred this year.
There is a special competition my adult troupe competes in every year. The venue is an hour’s drive from home so it is impossible to simply pop back and grab any items that have been left behind.
This year one of the girls in my tap troupe brought the wrong necklace with her by mistake. After a few stressful moments, one of the incredible ladies managed to MacGyver up a replacement.
Here is what the original looks like:
Here is her amazing effort. (Yes, that’s a needle threader!)
Now, I realise that mistakes do happen and things get misplaced and lost but there are a couple of simple steps that can be taken to help prevent them.
- Put things straight back where they belong when you have finished with them.
- Have a home for your stuff. (Allocate a location for important documents, paperwork, etc)
- Get rid of things you don’t need so you have space for those you do.
- Spend a few minutes sorting and organising prior to an important event/occasion to ensure you have everything you need (5 minutes before walking out the door is too late)
If you need assistance in getting rid of the overwhelm of stuff in your home and help to sort out and arrange the important things, then the Clutter-Free Community is for you. Check it out today.
